NEW CHAIRMAN FOR FREIGHT MARKET INFORMATION USERS' GROUP

Linda Kongerslev of German shipowner Egon Oldendorff has been elected as the new dry market chairman of the Baltic Exchange's Freight Market Information Users' Group (FMIUG).

The Baltic Exchange has responded to the shipping market's increasing interest in derivative-related products with the launch today (18 September) of two new assessments - the Baltic Ship Valuation Assessment (BaSVA) and Baltic Forward Assessments (BFA).

BALTIC EXCHANGE APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE'S SUCCESSOR

Peter Kerr-Dineen, Chairman of the Baltic Exchange, announced today that the Board was appointing Jeremy Penn, formerly with Reuters, as Chief Executive of the Exchange, to succeed Jim Buckley in the spring of 2004.

BALTIC MAINTAINS FINANCIAL STRENGTH AND FOCUSES ON FREIGHT MARKET INFORMATION

Speaking today on the Baltic's annual general meeting, Chairman, Peter Kitching reassured shareholders that that the financial position of the Exchange remained "fundamentally strong." The focus was now on the electronic distribution of the Exchange's freight market information.

BALTIC EXCHANGE: CHIEF EXECUTIVE

Jim Buckley, Chief Executive of the Baltic Exchange is to retire in April next year. Mr Buckley joined the Exchange in 1991, taking up his present position in 1992. He will be 60 in April 2004.

NEW BALTIC CHAIRMAN FROM JULY

The Board of Directors of the Baltic Exchange has asked Peter Kerr-Dineen to serve as its Chairman and Anthony Cooke to serve as Vice-Chairman following the Annual General Meeting scheduled for 10 July 2003, when Peter Kitching retires as Chairman.

As of Monday 3 March, the Baltic Exchange, the world's leading maritime market place, will be expanding its range of freight market assessments with the trial of two new tanker routes and introduction of a liquified petroleum gas (LPG) route.

FREIGHT DERIVATIVES MARKET COLLABORATES TO ENSURE GROWTH

Freight derivative trading members of the Baltic Exchange signed an agreement today (Tuesday 28 January) to boost confidence in the growing freight derivatives market. The agreement formalises existing arrangements between brokers and principals and includes an undertaking to ensure the continued integrity of the Baltic's daily indices and route assessments.
